Heya people,

It’s been awhile since I’ve posted anything. As George have mentioned, there has been tremendous progress on Kusu. Alot of it is due to our rather strict adherence to the Agile Methodology. Using Scrum techniques and having supporting infrastructure such as fuss-free builds helps alot too. And talking about fuss-free builds, I would like to talk about the one tool, which Mike had trouble bootstrapping on Gentoo , that is essential for creating Kusu builds: the boot-media-tool or b-m-t for short.

b-m-t simply generates Kusu Boot Media ISO for supported Linux distros. It is able to use a trunk or any of the Kusu tags in the SVN source and generate an installer update image. With this image and a supported Linux distro installation source, b-m-t is able to create bootable ISOs for multiple distros/architechures. The ISOs include our runtime and installer as you can see in the screencast that George posted. Simple and fuss-free.

With the tool, our next obvious step is to integrate it with our automated build engine powered by buildbot. With automated builds, it is possible to have daily (or nightly in some parts of the world) builds, generating ready to use ISOs for testing and demos. This greatly gives us more opportunities to work on the other interesting aspects of the project, improving the product and making it real for our users.
