More than 2 pcs impossible on Symphony?
Hi,
Maybe a stupid question..
I have tried to install Symphony DE on 2 pcs (WINXP 32bits)
It works (and great :-) )
What I have put in the vem_resource file is:
#....
AGENT:8000:X01P5036:20:0:NTX86:1 (my main pc)
AGENT:8000:192.168.1.3:0:1:NTX86:1 (my computing machine)
#....
(What is between parenthesis is not in the file)
After I have tried to add another pc by doing the following:
*Install Symphony DE on it
*Change my file vem_ressource by adding the line
AGENT:8000:X01D0123:0:1:NTX86:1
*copy this file to each machine (X01p5036, 192.168.1.3 and X01D0123)
*Start Symphony first on X01P5036
* start Symphony on the other machines
On 192.168.1.3 it works without any problem, but when I try to start on X01D0123, I have a msg box with "Failed to start Symphony on this local host.Make sure local host is defined in the first two lines of the config file vem_ressource" or somthing like that...
What did I do wrong?

You aren't doing anything wrong. There is a 2-host limitation for Symphony DE 5.0.

Tks for the answer.
Do you know why?
For commercial purposes?
For technical purposes..?
Is it in the documentation?
Tks

It's for commercial purposes. The number of hosts for Symphony DE (free product) is limited to encourage the adoption of the full Symphony product ($) if you require a larger grid. It is definitely *not* a technical limitation - the full product can support a grid with thousands of cores. You can visit Clusters, Grids, Clouds - Platform Computing for more information about Symphony.
