Default Session Manager Error with SampleApp and Asynclient

    Hello All,

I have just started using the Symphony DE. I installed the SampleApp Service, I built the executable using Visual Studio 2005, I am using Vista 32bit. I added the service using the Platform Manager Console,

However when I try to run Asynclient or SyncClient I get the following error, I tried running the files from the Syphony DE 4.0 Command prompt as well.

exception caught ... Failed to start session manager for consumer /SampleAppCPP.
An operation timed out. Please make sure resources are available for session ma
    nager and try again.
    All Done !!

Could some one please clarify what is meant by resources here, I have used Platform's OCS before and am just starting on Service Oriented Problems

I also cannot run Symping and I get the a similar error

Status: Error Failed to start session manager for consumer /SymTesting/Symping40. An operation timed out. Please make sure resources are available for session manager and try again.
Do I need to add something to any of the config files like vem_resource, None of the documentation mentions anything like that though

    Thank You
    Perhaad

As I know Vista is not officially supported by Symphony.

What log files a saying? You can find them under c:\SymphonyDE\DE40\logs? Search for ERROR there.
File agent.2920GTSD-0291.log (agent.your_host_name.log) is coming from daemon which starts SSM.

You do not need to do anything with vem_resource. After installation system configured to run symping.

    Hi Perhaad,

Vitali is correct. If you have a one host cluster, you do not need to modify the vem_resource.conf file.

The error you see is a failure to start the SSM. Have a look at the sd.*.log file and the agent.*.log file for errors. The reported error is generic and may not give the exact reason for the failure.

Please attach any information that you find.

Default Session Manager Error with SampleApp and Asynclient

    Hi,
I have also a problem with the SampleApp and SyncClient. I have one master and 3 compute hosts (all in windows XP), at the beginning it was working perfect both sync and async clients so I decided to modify the SampleApp.xml to prestart the application with 12 pre-loaded services to make it faster and when I rebuild the solution (visual studio 2005) the problems started. I got this message for all compute hosts “host<Host1.platform-grid.com>: pid<none or not registered>.....”. I changed again the values to the original ones and anyway it was not working. I tried a lot of things without good results so I uninstall and reinstall symphony again in all computers and still is not working. I symping in any host (master or compute) and is working normal, is sends and receive for all hosts. Then I tried to build the solution in the compute host 1 and copy the SampleServiceCPP.exe.gz in the master and do the rest normal and it works and I tried again with the SampleServiceCPP.exe.gz that I create in the master and is not working. So every time that I use the file created in the host works but not with the one that I create in the master.

    Can anybody help me?

    Thank you a lot

    Hi Oags15,

Can you post the exact error message you are getting and from whereÉ

You can look at the ssm log in %SOAM_HOME%élogs on the master host for error messages.

You can also try running you service program (built on master) in the foreground on the compute host to see whether there are missing dependencies. Windows may pop-up a message.

    hi Ajith

I got the error message in the Platform management console (SI Startup Failures), the error is “host<Host1.platform-grid.com>: pid<none or not registered>, host<Host2.platform-grid.com>: pid<none or not registered>,host<Host3.platform-grid.com>: pid<none or not registered>", i will check the logs error tomorrow morning.

When I execute the syncclient (build on master) on the host I got the same error in the PMC of the master but with the file of the compute host I can execute the syncclient in the master and in the host.

I will try tomorrow and let you know what happend. thank you for your help

    hi,

I fixed the problem, I make them again local host and execute the syncClient, then I modify the vem_resource.conf to join all compute host to the grid and it was working again

    Thank you,

    Oscar
