    Default Red Hat registration of a system

    Earlier, a system was set up for us by Bill Bryce.
    We started with installing RHEL5.1

    At the time Bill told us to skip the part where we register the system
    withg the Reds Hat network,
    and that we could do that later.

    So, 30 days have passed, and we now HAVE to register it, as the license
    manager has suspended ourt updates.

    So, I have:
    A valid Red Hat login & account for this machine
    A Red Hat Installation Number

    On the machine I need to run
    "rhn_register"

    When I do so it takes me to a screen that says:

    Please enter your login information for the
    https://intel7.lsf.platform.com/XMLRPC Red Hat Network Satellite:
    Login: ____________________ â
    Password: ____________________ â

    When I enter the (valid) user and password for the Red Hat subscription
    I want to assign, I get an error, and it quits.
    Here is the error:

    ===================================
    [root@localhost-eth0 ~]# rhn_register
    An error has occurred:

    Error Class Code: 2
    Error Class Info: Invalid username and password combination.
    Explanation:
    An error has occurred while processing your request. If this problem
    persists please enter a bug report at bugzilla.redhat.com.
    If you choose to submit the bug report, please be sure to include
    details of what you were trying to do when this error occurred and
    details on how to reproduce this problem.

    See /var/log/up2date for more information
    ===================================
    If I look there I see:

    [root@localhost-eth0 ~]# less /var/log/up2date

    was:

    If you choose to submit the bug report, please be sure to include

    sys.exit(self.main() or 0)
    File "/usr/sbin/rhn_register", line 64, in main
    ui.main()
    ===================================

    Apparently ( or so it appears) by installing KUSU this way, the machine
    has somehow become "tied" to your groups
    Red Hat ID.
    As a result it is rejecting my login and password.

    Or... I do not know what else..?

    Can you please help?

    Default RE: Red Hat registration of a system

    Hi Maurice
    =20
    Bill had used our test RHN satelite server. That is no longer =
    available.
    =20
    Take a look at the "rhn*" commands. The systemid it has is probably =
    invalid, because it was for our satelite server, instead of the real =
    ones.
    =20
    If I had to guess at a solution I'd move the =
    /etc/sysconfig/rhn/systemid, then "yum clean all", then rhn_register.
