Starting/Stopping Symphony DE on multi-host Microsoft Windows clusters Scenario
By default, Symphony DE on Windows is started as a Windows service called Symphony DE 4.0.0.
To start the Symphony DE service using the command line, you must go to each Symphony DE host and run soamstartup from the command line. To shutdown all services, you must run soamshutdown -all from the command line on one host in the cluster. (Note: This method works on Linux as well).
A quicker approach would be to use the Symphony DE tray icon in the Windows notification area. Steps
1. To reduce the number of logon prompts, add the same domain user to the local administrators group on all hosts in the Symphony DE cluster. This step is optional.
The Symphony DE tray icon uses the remote service control Windows API to remotely start the Symphony DE service. This API can only be used if the user is authenticated as a local administrator.
2. On any host in the cluster, right click the Symphony DE tray icon and select Start Symphony DE on all Hosts or Stop Symphony DE on all Hosts.
You may be prompted for an administrator user ID and password for a remote host. Enter the domain account that belongs to the local administrators groups you defined in step 1.
3. To selectively control remote hosts in the cluster, right click the Symphone DE tray icon and select Status for all Hosts. In the host status list, right click the host name and select Start Host or Stop Host to toggle the state of the Symphony DE service on that host.
You may be prompted for an administrator user ID and password for the remote host here as well.
